Without a doubt, summer is here, and with it, long afternoons to fill and trips to plan! We’re giving you a headstart with a collection of fabulous things to do in Stamford Connecticut.
Our list of Stamford CT events starts with the Art Show & Wine Reception, hosted by Atria Darien. This special event, on June 8th at 5:00 p.m., will showcase the work of the Darien Senior Center’s Acrylic and Watercolor students. The exhibit will be on display daily in the Gratia Gillespie Art Gallery at Atria Darien throughout June. Everyone is welcome!
Nature lovers, mark this date down on your calendar! On June 9, the Greenwich Botanical Center will host its 66th Annual Grandiflora Garden Tour. The event will extend to the next day as well, and will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. The Grandiflora Garden Tour is one of the oldest traditions of the Greenwich Botanical Center. Held in June each year, Grandiflora is the premier garden tour in town offering unprecedented access to some of the most spectacular private gardens in Greenwich. Generous homeowners open their world-class properties to ticketholders, offering a rare opportunity to enjoy these hidden gem landscapes. Your ticket directly supports the Greenwich Botanical Center and its mission to connect the community to nature through adult and youth programs, workshops and classes; outreach to senior citizens; school field trips, and arts education. Your ticket includes a self-guided tour with one visit to each garden. Available add-ons: Patron Breakfast Event, Box Lunch. Experience the beauty of some of the most spectacular private gardens in Greenwich. Enjoy two full days of self-guided tours through breathtaking landscapes at your own pace.
If you’re looking for another floral activity, then you’ll enjoy the Flower Crown Workshop, where Elior Coleman, owner of Call Me Marigold Flowers, a small, local florist based right here in Stamford, will teach you everything you need to know to create your very own beautiful and whimsical crown.
Also on June 11, Harbor Point Stamford is hosting Evolve Yoga on the Boardwalk, a B.Y.O.M (Bring Your Own Mat) Yoga class with incredible views of Long Island Sound. Join Kathy Bambace Salvo from Chelsea Piers for Evolve Yoga, and reenergize, build strength, and achieve a sense of serenity and awareness. If you’d like to attend, RSVP here.
In the fitness mode? Come back the next day for a Pilates Mat Class on the Boardwalk, also hosted by Harbor Point Stamford. Join DR Pilates for a Pilates mat class that focuses on stretching, lengthening, and conditioning your muscles. Again, this June 12 class is B.Y.O.M, and the organizers ask for rsvp here.
Of course, we couldn’t leave out Stamford Chamber of Commerce events! On June 15th, the Stamford Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Summer Kickoff BBQ. The deadline to register is Friday, June 9, and it’s one of the upcoming events in Stamford, CT you don’t want to miss! The BBQ will be at the Beer Garden at Shippan Landing, 290 Harbor Drive. Chamber of Commerce members receive a discounted rate of $85, while non-members pay $95. Register here!
Make June 22nd your busy day with two Stamford, CT things to do! The Ferguson Library is hosting a World Refugee Day Panel Discussion in the third-floor auditorium. Join a panel discussion with leaders of local non-profit organizations on the work being done in Stamford and Connecticut to assist refugees fleeing war and persecution. The event is open to teens (grades 6-12) and adults and is presented in partnership with Building One Community, Literacy Volunteers of Family Centers, Jewish Family Services of Greenwich, and Mayor’s Multicultural Council. Also on the 22nd, Building One Community is hosting a Health & Wellness Day , offering a variety of free health services and practical tips on general health care. The event is co-sponsored by Community Health Center, Inc. The event will be held Thursday, June 22nd, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Building One Community, 417 Shippan Avenue in Stamford.
Stamford’s immigrant population will be able to access FREE critical medical and dental services. Services offered will include:
- Dental cleaning
- Blood pressure screenings
- Free haircuts with a professional hairstylist and barber
- HIV and Hepatitis C Testing
- Vision screening
- Sign-up opportunities for Husky Health Care coverage for ages 12 and under
